THE STORY OF THE HAMAM TOWEL
Good ideas never go out of time:) More than 600 years ago, when the Ottoman Empire flourished and Turkish hammams served as social gathering places, a Peshtemal was used to cover the body. Peshtemal is a Turkish hammam towel woven in the traditional way.
It is light weight, absorbs plenty of moisture and dries quickly. Today, the hammam towel is used as a bath towel or beach towel
yoga towel, as a sarong and baby blanket, as a scarf, tablecloth or for
to decorate with. It is easy to carry and keep lying around in the car, boat or in the pram. And it is beautiful to look at.
As beautiful as 600 years ago.
LONG LIVE SUSTAINABILITY!
Our hammam towels are woven in the finest soft cotton by skilled craftsmen at
small family-owned weaving mills in Turkey, where the weaving technique and craftsmanship have been passed down from
generation to generation. The weavers are chosen with great care and the entire production
- from the choice of material to the finished towel - is carried out in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
All our towels are designed with both form and function in mind, and you
can choose between single or double woven, in a variety of patterns. The good quality combined with the beautiful and timeless design means that they can be used for a very long time.
What are hammam towels good for?
Perfect as a beach towel
The sand does not stick to it and the towel is known for its properties such as quick drying and high absorbency.
How do they feel?
Hamam towels are wonderfully soft against the skin and get better with age.
Multifunctional
Because the hammam towel is finely woven, it is perfect for turning into a sarong.
